Hi everybody,
Introductions first.  My name is Eric Green and I live approx 30 minutes south of Richmond.  I have been in and out of some form of racing since I was 8 years old (currently 38).  Everything from 2 stroke sprint karts to the most recent, dirt sprint cars at VMS.  Due to the fact that they are cutting sprint cars from the lineup at VMS, I sold my car and trailer and am considering getting my two boys (age 12 & 16) into kart racing with WKC.
I have experience with the KT100, so most likely would like to start them out in Jr. Sprint and PP Can respectfully.  After looking at a few pictures on the WKC website, I noticed that the karts in these two classes appeared to be enduro karts (left side engine and slightly raised seat).  I would most likely try to get karts that they could move up with (i.e TAG).  The questions I have are listed below.

What are the advantages to having the motor on the left side?

Could you be competitive with a standard sprint kart (i.e. CIK setup, Yamaha Can) in these two classes?

Does anybody know of any buyout deals available now?  I have been in racing long enough to know that when you buy single kart from somebody, you usually get their junk they don't want.

Any help would be appreciated.  I am going to try to make it to the swapmeet this weekend.

Thanks,
Eric Green

Eric if you're headed to the swap meet there will be many karts, engines and knowledgeable people there to answer some of these questions.  There is also a very very experienced WKC member in your area named Robert Harris.  I'd suggest looking for him on Saturday and introducing yourself to him.

I frankly don't know if a Yamaha will run competitively on a CIK sprint enduro chassis.  It might but I've just never seen one.

Don't be turned off by packages if it's the stuff you want to race.  There may be some junk but there will be a lot of things you will be buying for twice the cost if new.

Hey Eric --

Not sure if you've found eKartingNews.com yet, but they have a pretty robust "classifieds" section (towards the bottom of this page)...separate "packages", "chassis" and "engine" sections now.

Eric,

I'm Scott Sanders.  Not sure if I can answer all of your questions.  However, I do have a sprint enduro kart for sale.  It does run a Yamaha 100 motor.  It is mounted on the left side.

Cyclone chasis
Yamaha 100 motor
SMC Clutch (Red)
15T driver with 82 and 83 tooth gears
Mycron 3 guage with head temp and exhaust gas temp
Starter for kart
wheeled kart stand
push stick
AMB Transponder

This kart is race ready.  My son last raced it in Nov at Road Atlanta, came in second in class and 5th overall.  He wanted to move on to enduro laydown, that is the reason for selling.  I cant afford two.  I am asking $1500 for everything.  This would be race ready.

I will be at New Jersey and can have it ready to be raced for you.
