West Virginia Executive Order Cancels Woodbridge Kart Club Opener

It is with great regret that the Woodbridge Kart Club Board of Directors inform members and karters everywhere of the cancellation of the 2020 season opener on the Shenandoah Circuit at Summit Point Motorsports Park on April 18-19, 2020.  The Board has been in constant contact with track management during the rapidly evolving pandemic of the COVID-19 virus.  It was the boards sincerest of hopes that the event would be able to go on, however; with the most recent spikes in the number of cases and in the interest of public health, track management released the following statement to its stakeholders:

As a result of Executive Order No. 9-20 as issued today by the Governor of West Virginia; Summit Point Motorsports Park will extend our postponement of all motorsports activities until at least April 30th.  On April 15th we will update our status for May 1st and beyond based on the latest information and guidance that we receive from local, state and federal authorities.

Throughout this crisis we have attempted to be methodical and responsive to the needs of our community, employees and the clubs and participants that are the heart of our facility.

We encourage all to follow the guidelines that have been issued and we look forward to the resumption of operations.

The Board wants to assure the membership that everything in our power will be done to ensure the safety and well-being of the karting family.  Every decision will keep the karter’s best interests at heart.  We will continue to communicate with the track for potential date availabilities beyond the “stay-at-home” order for the state of West Virginia all while keeping our eyes looking ahead at the next event on the calendar at the end of May, the WKA National at Summit Point.  We have also been in contact with WKA leadership and will continue to be as we progress towards that event.

We sincerely appreciate your patience and understanding.  These circumstances are not easy for anyone.  We want to encourage each of you to follow all recommended guidelines throughout this situation and take care of yourself and your families.  We very much look forward to seeing you at the track very, very soon.  As always, if you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to reach out to the Board of Directors at bod@woodbridgekartclub.com.
