GARYSBURG, N.C. — The long wait for the 2023 American Kart Racing Association (AKRA) / Hoosier Kartsport National Road Race Series is nearly over.
As of this writing we’re now less than two weeks away from the May 5-7 national road race at the North Carolina Center for Automotive Research, a fast and sweeping 2-mile course located just off Interstate 95 near the Virginia / N.C. state line. This will mark the first AKRA National in over six months since the 2022 season closer in late September at Pittsburgh Int’l Race Complex, and the event is the first kart race at NCCAR since August 2014.
The NCCAR circuit will be run clockwise and include the chicane (off-colored pavement) at the entrance to the sweeping Turn 5.
Racers from all over the country are already pre-entered and there’s still time to pre-register. WKC will accept pre-entries through Tuesday, May 2 at 7pm. At that time, class and practice fees will increase to at-track registration prices.
To pre-enter via WKC’s RaceDay online registration page, CLICK HERE.
CLICK HERE to print the mail-in registration form and please mail no later than Tuesday, April 27 to ensure it reaches WKC by May 2.

Welcome Southern Kart Club!
In addition to regular AKRA, WKC, Dart Kart Club and other series’ competitors, WKC wishes to extend a warm welcome to Southern Kart Club racers, who completed their first race of the season at Roebling Road Raceway about six weeks ago.
The NCCAR facility is located less than 400 miles straight up I-95 from the Roebling Road area, and we encourage all SKC racers to make the easy drive up to NCCAR to support this new event. In addition, several SKC officials will be in attendance helping WKC regulars on the event staff.
Thursday Move-In
Sponsors will be permitted entry to the track at 4:30pm Thursday, with other participants to follow. Please do not line up early for this event – Technology Drive is not wide or long and we are prohibited from blocking the access to the massive Lowe’s warehouse. The NCCAR gate will be open from 5 pm Thursday through the end of the event. Pit pass sales will be open 4pm to 10pm Thursday, 6am to 10pm Friday and Saturday, and 6am to 1pm Sunday.
Pit pass sales are cash or check only. New arrivals at NCCAR after 10pm Thurs/Fri/Sat who have not prepaid for their wristbands will have to wait until 6am the following morning to access the track.
Food Truck Menu and Hours
The 10-33 Cookhouse food truck will be in attendance at NCCAR Friday through Sunday from 7am to 2pm. The food truck will be serving breakfast and lunch plus cold beverages, coffee and a made-from-scratch banana pudding dessert.
Their menu is posted on the WKC Facebook, or click here to view it.
