With the new season just about one month away, the Board of Directors wants to inform the membership and all racers about updates to the WKC tech program.
This year, pre-tech will take on a more traditional look in an effort to maintain compliance with rules and regulations set with our insurance provider. Drivers should prepare to have their kart physically inspected at each event by pre-tech personnel. A number of board members, volunteers, and staff will be located in the paddock area to help make this process as efficient as possible. Scott Sanders, Clark Gaynor, Sr., Clark Gaynor, Jr., JC Sanders, Arthur McKenny, Bill Kassy, and Jonathan Tedder will serve as post positions where drivers can have their kart and driving apparel inspected as part of the pre-tech process. Your pre-tech sticker will also be multifaceted. Once you receive your pre-tech sticker on the kart, the driver will fill out the name of the class and class weight in the space provided on the sticker. This will help our event staff with pre-gridding and post-race weigh-in and hopefully make those processes more efficient as well.
As in years past, your helmet will require an annual inspection and must have a valid 2021 sticker on it from either the Woodbridge Kart Club and/or another recognized organizing body (DKC, AKRA, WKA, CES, etc.).
The WKC Board is also pleased to announce a full slate of post-race tech personnel to provide our racers and membership with the integrity of an event you have come to expect. Longtime board member and former Vice President Scott Sanders will once again serve as our head tech official and be primarily responsible for 2 cycle tech at our regional events at the Shenandoah Circuit. He will be assisted on the 4-cycle side by Bernie Lafrance, a former WKC board member.
Another familiar face to road racing participants around the country will be joining the Woodbridge Kart Club staff at both of our AKRA National events at Summit Point Main. Tom Speaks will serve as the lead tech official for both of these events, bringing decades of experience to the tech barn and an expectation that the club has for providing a level playing field for all of our participants. Tom will be assisted at both of these events by Scott Sanders and this duo has worked extremely well together at many national events in the past.
The Board of Directors would like to welcome back all of our tech personnel and volunteers who will be assisting. We look forward to providing you with an excellent, transparent process in both the pre-tech and post-tech areas of our racing program.
As always, if you have any questions or concerns, please reach out to the Board of Directors via email at bod@woodbridgekartclub.com.
