Race #3 of Season Fast Approaching as is the Final Event on SPR Main Course!

This is a friendly reminder that pre-race registration for race 3 of the WKC regional series is now open!  The mid-July summer classic (which has remained the same for countless years) will be the final opportunity for road racers to tackle the famous 2-mile main circuit in 2009.

There has been some speculation about the event and we would like to take a moment to clarify a few “issues” that seem to be surrounding the event.  There are certainly questions that will have to remain unanswered because this is also a first-time event for our staff and officials.

This is a shared event with the Bill Scott Formula Car Series.  Despite the tension the title may naturally bring, this is a very good opportunity to help ensure some longevity for our club!  We are receiving the race track for essentially half the cost.  Thus, a good turnout and support of the event will mean some much needed revenue for our organization.  The Board of Directors and the race director have worked diligently in conjunction with the Bill Scott Racing team to comprise a schedule to give both the “biggest bang for their buck.”

What does this mean for you, the competitor?  Well, very few changes.  We do ask that you please take a look at the flash pass located on the left-hand side of the screen.  To date, this is the most accurate depiction of the event schedule.  We will be starting our on-track activities earlier and have only an hour and a half of practice.  We will be combining some groups so to have only 4 groups per round in an effort to guarantee two complete rounds for everyone.  Finally, all classes have been cut in length by only five minutes.  All things considered, this is the only true effect on the competitor for the weekend!

As you may imagine, the schedule will be tight and has little room for deviation.  Your cooperation is going to be absolutely imperative and please realize ahead of time that we will not wait on you.  As always, we will do our very best to keep you appraised as to where we are via the PA.  Please note that this schedule is subject to change and is weather permitting.

Should you still have any questions, please do not hesitate to ask someone that has actual knowledge of the event and its operation.  We would hate to see folks not come out to the track due to mere speculation by an uninformed individual.  Your support is vital to this club and its survival and this is a perfect opportunity to show your love and passion for YOUR club.  Let’s make the final run on the main course for 2009 a memorable with a huge number of entries.

Again, if you have any further questions, please ask your favorite board member or feel free to contact the race director.

We hold our membership meetings Saturday night at the track each event weekend.  Everyone is welcome and encouraged to participate.  It's your club.  Be involved.

Thank you to all the members who showed up for our Members' Meeting at NJMP.   We had a lot of ideas flowing.  Karen McCollum presented the club's current financial picture with Rodney Smith giving a report of the club's bank and money market balances.  If you missed the meeting, you can read the minutes on-line.  With entries down approximately 30%, the club has to make some difficult decisions.  It was agreed by the membership present that we should begin by raising our rates.  Effective immediatley, race entry and practice fees increase by $10.  The new pre-registration forms are also available on-line.

Volunteers are needed.  Please check in with Registration and sign up to help out.

WKC is also looking for someone to man Registration.  This is a paid position, though we've never turned away a volunteer!  Please see Tom Conlon ( This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it ) or your favorite Board member if you are interested.
