WKC-hosted AKRA Summit Point Nationals attracts over 100 drivers, 350-plus entries

SUMMIT POINT, W. Va. — Thank you to all who attended our 2024 American Kart Road-Racing Alliance / Hoosier Kartsport Road Racing Nationals August 23-25 at Summit Point Motorsports Park, and congratulations to all race winners!

We recorded 358 race entries with over 100 drivers in competition. This was a better turnout than recent years for our August event at Summit Main, and it made for a successful weekend for our club.

CIK 206 Senior Lite was the largest division with 25 entries; Yamaha Enduro, CIK 125 Shifter, 125 TaG, KA-100, Piston Port Sprint, Vintage and others all had formidable fields with solid competition.

Two red flags slowed the action – one during Friday’s Jack Foster Vintage Cup and one during Sunday’s Race 6. We wish speedy recoveries to Arthur McKenny (back) and Peyton Worm (shoulder), both of whom suffered injuries in the two incidents. Our thoughts will remain with both drivers during their recoveries.

All Saturday races and Sunday’s first five races ran the full distance. Sunday’s races 6-7-8 were shortened due to the Race 6 stoppage and delay.

Next up on the WKC road racing calendar is the 2024 AKRA / Hoosier Kartsport National Road Racing Series closer Sept. 27-29 at Pittsburgh International Race Complex. For details on Pittsburgh, visit dartkartclub.com.
