To ensure driver safety and consistency with national standards, all helmets used at WKC events in 2026 must meet current FIA, Snell, or SFI certification requirements and fall within the approved expiration dates. Several older helmet certifications will no longer be accepted after December 31, 2025, including Snell SA2015 and M2015 helmets.

Key points for the 2026 season include:

  • Snell SA2020, M2020, and K2020 helmets remain valid through December 31, 2030

  • FIA 8859-2015 helmets expire 10 years from manufacture date

  • SFI 31.1 / 41.1 / 24.1 (2015) helmets remain valid through January 1, 2027

  • Newer SFI 2020 and 2025 certifications extend validity into the 2030s

Drivers are encouraged to check their helmet’s certification sticker and manufacture date well in advance of the season to avoid any issues at tech inspection. A full breakdown of approved helmet specifications and expiration dates is available per the official NKA / AKRA Helmet Rules for 2026.

For questions regarding helmet compliance, competitors should contact WKC officials prior to race day.
