SUMMIT POINT, W. Va. — Regan Vehring was crowned the 2022 Animal Nationals presented by 4-Cycle Central champion for his overall win in the 4-Cycle Sprint 390 division during the AKRA / Hoosier Kartsport Road Race Nationals at Summit Point Motorsports Park.
Vehring, of Wisconsin, finished second to Joe Adler in Saturday’s 30-minute MGM Chassis Prelude to the Nationals and won Sunday’s weekend capper over Sean Ballantine and Kyle Banovetz. He took home the $1,000 cash prize plus a $150 bonus from Linsell Speed Shop for the fast lap time in Saturday’s race. Ballantine won the $150 Linsell bonus in Sunday’s contest.
Robert Garland Sr. of South Carolina finished fifth Saturday and fourth Sunday for second overall and the $750 award. Scott Heath of Virginia was third and took home $450 plus a $100 Hard Charger award from Valor Motorsports. Maryland’s Tony Wimmer was fourth and Ballantine fifth.
Cole Ritter won the $1,000 random drawing for overall finishers sixth place to last. Ritter finished 27th overall and the P27 number was drawn by WKC race director Brandon Taylor. Four other drivers outside the top five won random drawings for denominations of $750, $450, $200 and $100.
Tony Wimmer and Jessi James each won a free race entry to the October 15-16 Roebling Road Raceway road race sponsored by Southern Kart Club.
